HCF Edinboro Manor
My mom is Helen Aletenberger. She has been a resident of Edinboro Manor since September 28, 2009. I truly never imagined that I would be writing anything like this about her stay in a nursing facility. Before her admission to Edinboro Manor she had two brief stays in other local nursing facilities. Both times, our experiences were not particularly what I’ve felt she needed. This led to my Dad taking her back home as he felt that he could better care for her himself. Once he became exhausted from his no less than heroic efforts, we found ourselves, once again, in need of placement for Mom. We were at a loss as to how to best meet her needs as well as how to protect Dad from becoming more run down, both physically and emotionally.

We scrambled to find yet another nursing facility for Mom. After visiting several other local facilities, I called Edinboro Manor. We were searching for the best place to meet Mom’s needs as well as provide Dad with some peace of mind regarding her care. From that first phone call, I had a good feeling. Dad and I visited, talked at length with admissions, and decided that we’d found the place that could best meet all our needs. We were not mistaken!

From the beginning of her stay to the present, Mom has been treated with respect and compassion by Edinboro’s knowledgeable staff. She suffers from quite severe emotional problems as well as some dementia, severe macular degeneration and mobility issues. Since her admission, she has become stronger, gained weight (she weighed a little over 100 pounds) and her fragile emotional state has been treated excellently.

Although Mom still has times when she longs to be at home with Dad, we feel that she has found a “home” where she is loved and cared for in the best way possible, given her circumstances. Edinboro Manor’s entire staff should be proud of what they do to care for all their residents and we commend them! They not only provide quality care, but help to ease the pain of placement for family members.

I know that I speak for my Dad, Jack, and my sister, Linda, as well as for myself when I say “Thank You” for being family to all of us!

Kudos, Kudos, Kudos to the staff at The Edinboro Manor. Both of my parents are residents at the Manor. It is comforting to know that my parents’ many needs are being met by a team of kind, caring, competent professionals. If I was to list all of the reasons why I am glad to have The Edinboro Manor caring for my parents, the list would be too long to read. Whenever I stop in, the facility is always sparkling clean and I notice that the residents are being treated with compassion and respect that is from the heart. I am met with warm smiles from the staff, no matter how busy they are. Each day when I go to my job as a professional counselor I know my parents are safe and that means a lot. Thank you for being there are caring for my parents.
